The football game in Houghton and the jerk hockey players.

The day NMU played Tech in football was a crazy day. My friend Cheyenne and I decided that we were going to take the hour and 45 minute drive to Houghton to support the team. We ended up going to my friend Casey’s dorm because she goes to school at tech. We fell asleep and almost missed the game because we never set an alarm to wake us up. Well we were in the line for a while for the tickets we found out that the price isn’t what we thought it was and we were like 5 dollars short. Our friend Justin came to the rescue and bought us our tickets. We then all went and sat on the NMU side, we never really sat down we were up and screaming most of the time. After the game of us losing by one point we were walking through the parking lot to get back to the dorms we ran into some hockey players. They then continued to be complete jerks and were talking crap about how we better get ready for them to win in hockey also. We then started walking away where we were called back to them only to have them call us baby and honey. To which we responded some not so nice things and started our way back to the dorm. On our way to the dorm we both decided that we weren’t just not too smart for Tech but we don’t want to have to climb those hills all the time.

The barns...

The last time I was afraid was during the barns at the Haunted Hayride. I went with four of my friends and had a great night at the Hayride. As we were going through the barns that are ran by Lake Superior Youth Theater we were all scared well the girls were all scared. Walking through the first barn was all okay, just a few jumps and screams, until I turned around and saw some of the actors following me and I freaked out. In the next barn I had the great joy, because of one of my asshole friends, to be in the very back of the five of us. This involved me being touched by the people in the barns. That was horrible. In the end it was all fun when I thought we were done we had to walk through the last part. It was pitch black and involved people hiding in the darkness whispering and talking in your ears. That was the worst part. I hid in my friend Cheyenne’s blanket. We stopped and I thought we were done with it but nope. I shouldn’t have opened my eyes because when I did I had a person inches from my face looking at me. I freaked out and hid in her blanket again until I knew we were for sure out of the barns.

Dear Bailey,

I've read your letter! I am a freshman also, so I am not used to all this stuff either. One of the things that I am doing right now in English 109 is an argument essay. The essay itself is pretty cool. The actual doing of the essay was a pretty slow process. We had to take a movie, book, or tv show and take a character other than the main one(s) and rewrite the story in the point of view of the new character you picked. But it wasn’t just rewriting it, you had to rewrite it in your head and use examples of the one you made up while writing an around 1,000 word paper on the reasons why you are wanting to rewrite it. For my example I rewrote frozen in the perspective of Olaf and used the examples of him being one of the most compassionate characters and then used that as one of my main focuses’ for why he should have been the main character. I think this is one of the hardest papers I have written because there is a lot more that has to go into this type of essay. The pre planning and other things you have to do in the process before writing the paper makes it a lot harder than anything that has been written by me.

Cheerleading!

I was in cheerleading for 8 seasons. Seventh and eighth I only had the opportunity to cheer for basketball as we didn’t have enough funding to also do so. I also cheered on the varsity level for 6 seasons, my freshman, junior and senior years were the years I cheered. I didn’t cheer my sophomore year because I had a lot going on with homework and problems with the coach. My first 3 years cheering I had the best coaches there were to have! I had Coach Nelson and Coach Filizetti. They taught us the way we needed to be taught. Our routine my freshman and junior (click here to watch junior year's routine) years were the best that the school has seen in years. Our routines were very hard to learn but also were very fun to do. I wanted to be a base for the longest I could be and I was only not in one stunt which shows that I could actually handle being able to throw around girls and be able to do that for a solid 3 minute routine only taking breaks to dance, which isn’t a very good break. I was NOT impressed with my routine my senior year, the seniors (my friend Taylor and I) fought for a good routine but the coach disagreed with the things I would say. It was very hard to have such a horrible routine be my last but I will always remember the routines that wouldn’t have been possible without me and my other bases. I had to have surgery my senior year of high school, after cheer season of course. And I am still not able to cheer, that is a bummer because I was looking forward to being a cheerleader for northern, seeing as I can single base a flyer and not many other girls can do that.

The Crazy Girl 2 Doors Down.

Cheyanne is this super cool girl who lives down the hall. Earlier this weekend Friday night to be exact I had to go in her room to get a phone number for my friend Justin. While I was there we started talking about literally everything, everything between us as kids, our parents, and us both being in cheerleading. We are the same person. We both have younger brothers who we love more than the world. At the same time our families are crazy! We are both very close to our mothers, when I went in her room earlier she showed me a video that reminded her of me and my mom. On Saturday morning we both went to Michaels because I needed to pick up skeletons for my step mom… that’s a story for another blog post. Anyways we both realized that we were hungry at like the same time and decided on going to Applebee’s. While there we both ordered the same thing without discussion. Then my mom called me and we decided to take a trip out to Gwinn to watch my brother start in his first 7th grade football game. While at the game my grandparents showed up, they made a 2 hour road trip to surprise us and I was very thankful for that because my grandpa starts at the University of Iowa on Tuesday. Cheyanne got to meet my grandparents, mom and stepdad all in the same day, crazy because my roommate hasn’t met my grandparents yet. Anyways we had to leave the game early so I could make it to the dome for the football game to write an out of class activity paper and a live performance and have them out of the way. I think I met my new best friend my 5th week of college!
