I started my job at Father Marquette Elementary School on Thursday and so far I love it! I get
payed to help kids in kindergarten through fourth grade. My job entitles me to
help with homework and also play outside and games with the kids. I work with
anywhere between fifteen to twenty kids a day. The kids I work with are all
ages like I said so they are all over with their maturity levels. There are
some kids who sit and do their homework when they come in, others have to be
asked to show their homework folders and have them checked. Although I have
only been there for a few days I have learned a lot about the kids that come in.
Austin is in kindergarten (he skipped Pre-K) and he is 5 and three quarters as
he will tell you if you ask. He also loves to be on the swings, but only if he
pumps his legs to get high (he doesn’t like getting pushed.) Stella is in
kindergarten and loves to play on the monkey bars, this is the first year that
she can get all the way across. She also is in dance class, she dances in jazz,
tap, and hip hop. Amelia is in first grade and doesn’t like to do her spelling
words endless someone reads them to her (which is now one of my jobs.) She also
loves to wear pretty dresses and play with littlest pet shops. Sophia is Amelia’s
older sister she is in third grade and LOVES to play with Mr. Beaver which all
the kids like to do also. Mack is also in 3rd grade he enjoys
playing with anything anyone gives him. He is the child in the classroom that
always makes people feel better about themselves and also invites everyone to
play with him. So far after the first couple days I love my job and the kids
that I work with are fun to learn about.
